About Haffe

Haffe Acosta was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He migrated from the Dominican Republic to join his mother in the United State in 1990. Haffe Acosta graduated from The City College of New York Film Department in 1999. Where he obtained a BA in Communications, Film and Video. Acosta has been known for his unique cinematography eye. He has shot several commercials, music videos, documentaries and short films.

Haffe has shot several music videos both in the Latino market, as well as, the English market. He Co-photographed a feature film titled: Stone Cold Killers “Los Jodedores” shot in Brooklyn as well as in The Dominican Republic while he was a junior in City College; (www.imdb.com) (www.maverickentertainment.cc). This was a unique experience as Acosta states clearly “It was a great opportunity for me. I was shooting 35mm while in school all you can shoot was 16mm.
Haffe also worked in the acclaimed independent film “Harlem Aria” starring: Damon Wayans and Malik Yoba. Under the mentor guidance of renowned Cinematographer: Keith L. Smith; (www.keithlsmith.com).

Haffe Acosta is a complete filmmaker who, in 2008, visually consulted for and produced the award-winning documentary: “Mysteries Behind Closed Doors.” The film had its date vue at the New York International Film Festival in New York and Los Angeles.

In 2010, Haffe worked as a First Assistant camera for the feature: “Refuge from the Storm” Working alongside Cinematographer, Bruce Logan, ASC. Expanding his horizons, he diversified as a Producer, Director of Photography and Director in multiple projects in order to gain the experience that would ultimately guide him into the Local 600 Camera Guild. Since, he has flourished from a Loader all the way up to the Visual Direction and Photography of what truly fascinates Haffe. “The ability to manipulate shadows and tonality is like writing music or a poem”

Currently, Haffe Acosta continues to shoot and develop projects under his production company: “Cacike FilmWorks, Inc.
